Creating Effective Classroom Assessments

Do you want to create common assessments? This course will prepare you to create effective classroom assessments, which will include answer keys and rubrics aligned to YOUR curriculum.
Course Objectives:
- evaluate curriculum as teachable/assessable and revise as necessary
- differentiate assessment for learning and of learning; distinguish types of assessment and when to use each type
- apply guidelines for appropriate test construction
- explain or demonstrate creation of checklists and rubrics
- critique assessments and provide for appropriateness, alignment, administration and scoring guidelines, and overall validity
- create effective assessments aligned to local curriculum
Dates: April 9-10, 2010: Friday, 4:30-8:30 AND Saturday, 8:30-4:30. Please note that these two sessions will be “working meals,” so you are encouraged to bring your sack lunches or snacks for both sessions. One follow-up assignment is required.
Fees: $275 which includes the workshop fee, training materials, and TWO hours of graduate credit at BAKER UNIVERSITY (EDC7314)
Location: Baker Campus, ROOM 101, 7301 College BLVD, Overland Park, KS
Required Materials: As a participant you must bring a copy of your own local curriculum, selecting examples that YOU actually teach. In addition Curriculum Leadership Institute will provide the “CLI Assessment Manual” which is included in your fee.
